Capsule coffee at staff lounge

Dear NIS Staff,

We are enthusiastic to offer you high quality coffee at an affordable price in the staff canteen area. Unfortunately we have noticed users bringing capsules from other resources than the dispensing machine. Please note that it is not allowed to use any other capsules for the coffee machine besides the ones coming from the dispensing machine. The machines are highly sensitive and we cannot apply for product guarantee under these circumstances. On the other hand, we do encourage you to bring your used capsules to us for the Nespresso capsule recycling program!

Kind Regards,

Chartwells Team

Student Council elections

Hello, Grade 6 to 9 Students!

This week in Advisory, you will be voting for your grade’s Student Council representative!

Your advisor will provide you with a ballot to vote and your advisory liaison will then email results to sarahnappi@nanjing-school.com.

Select one student from your own grade you feel would best advocate for what other students need. These students should be hard-working and excited to be involved in the community.

Please write down the student’s name and grade on the piece of paper provided to you.

We had a couple volunteers so if you would like to vote for one of them, they are listed below.
Grade 6 : Victoria Warm
Grade 9 : Yoonji Chae

If not, select students you feel would be best qualified for the position.

If you are elected to Student Council, you will be contacted and asked if you would be interested in the position. Student Council meetings will be at lunch on Tuesdays.

Happy voting!
Sarah Nappi & Willy Wang

Please stop by room D204 (Mr Mello’s Biology lab) and write your comments on the wheeled whiteboard. There are two potential itineraries shown.

These will stay up until tomorrow, Wednesday, August 23rd.

Looking forward to your input!

Mr. Mello and the DC12 team.

September 24 12:30-2:00
October 17 12:30-2:00
November 21 12:30-2:00
December 12 12:30-2:00

Lastly, if you cannot visit the Shop during our open hours and you would like an item, please directly email Chanley Webber – chanley428@gmail.com.

PS break time

We need to all be sending the same message – the students have two choices only:

  1. outside or
  2. gym (G3-5 only) ten minutes after dismissal from the cafeteria.

Encourage students to take their water bottles and hats outside and to find a shady place under a tree or in the cool bamboo forest.

Many students are wandering the hallways or going to their classrooms to play. If the weather “feels like” 40 degrees or more, we go to hot weather protocol. Otherwise, let’s send a common, clear message and support the students with reminding language. Outside or Gym. Thank you.

Middle School: Hallways at Lunch

Hello 6-9th Graders,

Tired of being spoken to my Mr. Bratton?

Sick of getting told off by teachers?

Want to stay safe and avoid future disciplinary issues?

Just follow these simple lunchtime rules:

1. Take your bag to your locker immediately after lunch, hold on to your lunch card and/or lunch bag.

2. If you need your bag during first 1/2 of lunch, take it directly to your locker at the halfway point. You’ll know it’s the halfway point because it will be exactly halfway between the start and end of lunch!

3. No backpacks are allowed in the cafeteria

4.  Return to your lockers ONLY AFTER the “bell” plays, signaling the end of the lunch period.

Simple as that!

MS/US Students

Hi MS/US Friends,

A quick reminder that tech help is available to you in the Macquarium at BREAK, LUNCH, and AFTER-SCHOOL. You should only be visiting during class time if instructed to do so BY A TEACHER. Being at I.T. is NOT a excuse to miss class.

Thanks for your help!
