Hey teachers,

Are you looking to fulfill your volunteer requirements for Ms Anna before the end of the semester? Is your ManageBac looking empty? Well, I have an opportunity for you!

I have 7 very happy teacher volunteers who would LOVE to be hit over the head with a musical instrument during next week’s Winter Assembly… but I need 8. I’m looking for one more!

If you are interested, please let me know this week. Here’s your schedule:

Thursday lunch 1: MSUS teachers’ tech rehearsal

Thursday lunch 2: PS teachers’ tech rehearsal

Friday morning: MSUS and PS performances during the winter assembly

Thanks!

Amy

(PS: If I don’t get my last volunteer, I’m going to continue my current strategy of accosting people in their classrooms!)

Giving Tree Homeroom/Advisory Contest Week 2 Update

We are in the home stretch with the Giving Tree Homeroom/Advisory Contest and it looks like it’s going to be a close one. In the MSUS Division, Mrs. Merrylees’ advisory have taken the lead with the purchase of 18 Giving Tree cards and Mr Fielke’s Grade 5 class continues to lead the PS Division with 10 Giving Tree cards. With only a few days left, both divisions are still in contention and those two #9 Pizzeria pizza parties are up for grabs. If you and your homeroom/advisory want to give, there’s still time. Email Mr. Romero and he’ll deliver as many cards as your group wants to purchase.

I remind all advisors that not only does the drive end on Friday, but we need cards and money turned in by the end of the day on December 6th. Thank you to everyone for your support and generosity.

Clearance forms and procedures for leaving students – important info

Reminder about leaving procedures – Clearance Forms etc

Dear All,

As the end of 2019 approaches there will be families moving on from NIS to new homes, schools and countries.

There are a couple of likely leaving dates : 13th Dec and 17th Jan 2020.

Below you will find information on our Clearance Forms and leaving procedures  in case you are asked questions, or are new to the process.

Each leaving student in every grade must complete a Clearance Form. The parent needs to complete the whole form for PS, and for MS/US the front page is for parents and the other two sheets for the students to complete. (Non native speaking parents may need some assistance in PS)

· Forms can be obtained from Main Reception, Admissions or downloaded off the website on the Parent Portal or FAQ’s. There is also a transfer flowchart in three languages to assist parents.

· On the student’s last day – in exchange for their completed form we will hand over the studentship letter in PS and transcripts in MS/US. This is done by the ladies on Main Reception with support from Admissions. As school ends at 11am please encourage all concerned to get these forms completed in their final week – not the final hour or minute!

· Julia Zhang, Financial Controller on the 2nd floor of the Centre opposite the lift is always the last person to sign off on the form. She checks that there is no money owing to school by the student and family.

· It is important that all MacBooks are handed into IT for them to clear off all school settings and software. Before this is done EVERYTHING must be backed up as it will be wiped clean and they will not be able to retrieve anything. I would encourage all leaving students in Grade 5 and MS to ask IT if they have any questions about this – especially in terms of the best time to get this done.

· The S1 reports will be out on Thursday, January 16th 2020, and not before.

· All leaving families must download and print them off, as once they have left NIS they will no longer have access to Veracross.

· If any student has a special request or needs help, send them to Admissions or to see Weiwei who will arrange an appointment with Kasson.

· Our Korean leavers often have complicated procedures for the papers needed for their return home. If they need help – pass them onto Weiwei and Kasson.

· The Admissions Office remains open throughout the winter break.

· Please continue to pass on any intel about leaving students. This can be a very unsettling time for some families who still do not know their future plans.

Any questions – come and see us in Admissions Office, call Sue on 13809022693 or email us at admissions@nanjing-school.com

Thanks for your help and cooperation.

Happy holidays!
