Global Content Posters

I made up some Global Context posters for xBlock, in English, Chinese and Korean. If you would like them for your classroom, please go to teacherlargestorage / xBlock / Global Context. They are A3,150DPI, so if they are too big to print, you can resize them using Mail or go to IT for help.

Drumming Rehearsal

The Chinese Drumming club has a rehearsal today after school. This is mandatory in order to perform in the upcoming concert, so please ensure you attend. Thanks.

Music Recital

On June 3rd, we will be having a tiny music recital in M251. This is not a concert. This is a tiny recital in which you show your parents what you’ve been learning in your private music tuition classes. This is not necessarily for advanced musicians. This is for everybody. If you have only been playing your instrument for 4 weeks but can play a song, then this recital is for you (come make your mama cry with pride!) Also, if you are advanced and you’ve been working on a really hard song and you want to show your hard work, then this recital is for you.

Performers can be any age as long as they are part of the NIS community. This means our performers can be the children of faculty, staff, or parents. In fact, it could be adult performers as well!

For more information, please contact Miss Keus in M252.

Bells

Many thanks for all the bells that were submitted this week!  We now have the happy problem of more-bells-than-weeks for the rest of the school year. We still have a few scheduled weeks (e.g. DP exams, Brown, Bratton, Joyce & Norbraten), but will still try to get as many bells in as possible. We will also move some to August of 1819, before the next year’s schedule takes place.

Thanks for the influx of bells – we really appreciate it!

Bells (again)

Many thanks to all the people who submitted bells yesterday morning. Also, thanks to those advisories who said they haven’t heard their bells yet. I’ll double check my schedule, see what happened, and make sure that any missing bells go in before I start plugging the holes.

Thanks,

Miss Keus

Bell Submission

You may have noticed that many bells this year have been repeats of submissions from previous years. This week, we have Pokemon Go, which was submitted last year by grade 5. We reuse bells because there aren’t enough bells submitted to fill all the time slots.

For the remainder of the year, we have blocked out slots for DP exams, the PYP production, and the last week of school. Otherwise, all bell slots are empty. If you would like to submit a bell for this year, please email Miss Keus. Otherwise, I’ll start going through submissions from Mr. Mello, Mr. Marsh, Mr. Coad, and Mrs. Moen, whose advisories always do multiple submissions.

Thanks,

Miss Keus

Duty Swaps

Hi,

Today, I’m looking for someone to take the Monday briefing minutes and for another person to cover/swap my EY Lunch 2 duty because I have the jobalike.

Possible?

Thanks for letting me know

Amy

Cultural Convention Closures

Today we welcome 100+ visiting students for NIS’ Cultural Convention. Please note these closures /changes:

  • The music rooms are closed for practices during break, lunch, and after school.
  • All MSUS music classes are shifted to D208.
  • Korean Drumming is canceled
  • MSUS choir continues, but in Ms. Heidi’s classroom

Please be welcoming of our visiting students. If you see someone walking around with a name tag, looking slightly confused, please stop and help them with whatever they need. Thanks!

Music Room Notices

The music rooms will be closed this week during all breaks, lunches, and after school due to Cultural Convention preparations. An exception includes those students performing during the convention who need to finish preparing their pieces. Please have only those students (no groupies) present. Thanks.

Chinese Drumming Club

Some members of Chinese Drumming Club has been meeting every lunch hour this week (and will be next week) for the upcoming CNY performance. We’ve now put together a good orchestration. If you are still interested in joining, please join us at lunch today.

Talent Show

Last night the student council hosted a great talent showed filled with well-prepared, skillful performers.

Thanks yous were given last night, yes, but the unsung heroes of the night were the tech and backstage crews. The backstage area was calm under pressure, and the tech was spot-on.

A performer’s talent shines on stage because someone gives them a spotlight and hands them a mic. Thanks to Mr. Brown and our tech teams!

Chinese Drumming Club

We will have a Chinese drumming club practice today during lunch from 12:50 – 13:20. We will be working on the Chinese Dragon Dance, from Joe and Kay.

Student Missing Advisory

Dear advisory teachers,

Tomorrow we will have 55 students performing in the winter assembly. The students cannot attend advisory because they will be assembling their instruments, tuning, and getting into position.

  • Please bring your Veracross-accessed device to assembly and take note of whether your advisory students are on stage.
  • Students working tech may need to see their advisors first (I’m not sure of their protocols) because they will be backstage and thus you might not see them present.

Attached is a list of the students performing on stage (please see Sam Brown regarding tech crew).
