PYP Exhibition POST for EVERYONE!

What is so wonderful about our planet?

What would you like to share with future generations?

Dear Colleagues, Parents, Students,

Grade 5 is starting its preparations for the Exhibition (“Sharing The Planet”). As we start to discuss the act of sharing the planet with our students, we’re first going to tune in to what we’re sharing.

We’re asking them and our community to contribute to our inspiration wall that asks what you love about our planet, what you’d like people to know about, what you imagine sharing with our descendants. Have a look; share a thought, a drawing, a photo….

We’re asking them, you, anyone who passes through the Grade 5 hallway to contribute to our inspiration wall that asks all and sundry what you love about our planet, what you’d like people to know about, what you imagine passing on to our descendants. Have a look; share a thought. We would love to see the world, and show the world to our students, through your eyes.

#PYPX 2018 Mentors

Grade 5 are looking for mentors!

  • The role of the mentor is chiefly to advise and keep students on track.
  • There should be regular meetings. For the most part we would like mentor meetings to happen during UOI time, in the grade 5 classrooms. HOWEVER – no problem if they come to you if that suits you better!
  • Offer advice on locating resources and using them efficiently.
  • Ask questions (i.e. to clarify thinking, to help with processing information, to extend knowledge etc.)
  • Help interpret sophisticated/difficult information.
  • Facilitate interviews, telephone calls, any electronic communication.
  • Goal setting and time management advice.
  • Be supportive and encouraging.
  • Celebrate achievements and successes with the students.

Please email any of the grade 5 teachers if you are willing to be a part of this exciting journey! Information meeting     Thursday 22nd March at 3:15.

Staff Party Today

Forgot to sign up? Changed your mind about coming? NO PROBLEM! Come anyway. The list on the wall is to give organisers an idea of numbers. A few extra won’t matter!

Reminder: Party starts at 4:00. Gift giving game will start at 4:15. You can drop gifts off at the tree in Staff Room any time today. Be sure to write your name on a slip at the tree and put it in the box under the tree.

Friday’s “Office Party” Gift Exchange

FYI to all who signed up – here are the rules!

You bring a gift worth between 50 and 80RMB. You may write a clue on your gift if you like…Place your gift by the tree any time on Friday AND then write your name on a slip and put it in the box beside the tree.   At 4:15 we draw one name from the box. (person ONE) Person ONE selects a gift from the tree and opens it in front of everyone. We draw the next name out of the box. Person TWO can “steal” person ONE’s opened gift and person ONE has to select again from the tree… OR person TWO can select a gift from the tree and open it. We draw person THREE’s name. Person THREE can “steal”  person ONE’s gift or person TWO’s gift and that person chooses again from the tree…. OR person THREE can choose a gift from under the tree.

If someone takes your gift, you can’t take someone else’s, you need to choose from the tree! And so on until all names are called and then person ONE gets the last go – person ONE can take a gift from ANYONE – if they choose to. That person chooses from under the tree and the game is over!

Grade 5 Family Histories

On Wednesday 12:00 to 12:45, Grade 5 students will share family histories with parents. However – we did not realise that NIC Bazaar is on tomorrow so there are a few students who won’t have parents visiting. If any teachers are free for any parts of that 45 minutes and like to visit, they will be most welcome!
