Hi! Can I come in?

Good morning, everyone.

The Strategy team is looking for some photos of students in classrooms for an activity we have planned during INSET in August, so I might pop into your classroom at some point during the day today for a few seconds. It really doesn’t matter what they’ll be doing at that point. I will email you asking for permission to use any photos prior to INSET. Please send me a quick email if you’d rather I didn’t visit you today.

Thanks.

Luiz

Xuanwu lake picnic with (new) friends

We have only 12 spaces (first come, first served) for a Mandarin language and culture experience on Saturday May 19th (9:10am until noon).

Groups including a Mandarin speaker will share some food and get to know each other. Andy will run a WeChat group with fun prompts and challenges, but this is not scavenger hunt.

Think about ordering your own picnic items in Mandarin (without pointing!) to take on a sweet Swan Boat on the lake. That’s what you’re in for.

Sign up available in the staff lounge.

Discover China Grade 12

Dear grade 12 students,

We have invited your parents to an information session on Thursday May 3rd 8am to 8:40am in the MYP Large Group Room.
You can attend if you’d like, but are not required to.

The purpose of this session is to share all the fun things we have prepared for you, and some of the items you must be aware of in advance – like the packing list, which may require you to purchase a few things prior to the trip.

We also want to share details of logistics, safety and other aspect of the trip, as well as answer any questions you might have.

Please check with your parents that they plan on coming. Thanks!

TEDxYouth@NIS

TEDxYouth@NIS is this weekend!

Faculty, staff and students in grades 9-12 are welcome.

This year, we are advertising the event outside NIS, which means we could have a sold out theatre. If you’d like to attend, make sure to reserve your ticket as soon as possible by completing this form. Towards the end of the week, you will receive your invite with payment information. Tickets are 50¥.

For more info, speak to Luiz, Triona or Sonya. You can also write to tedx@nanjing-school.com or visit our website to learn more about our speakers.

TEDxYouth@NIS is happening on March 3rd, 2018 at Nanjing International School. Our goal is to provide a platform where the people of Nanjing can share their ideas worth spreading in either English or Mandarin.

Our speakers last year shared their path to forgiveness, challenged our perception of the hijab, showed us the beauty of dissonant sounds, and much more. You can check out last year’s TEDxYouth@NIS talks here.

If this sounds like you or someone you know, write to us at tedx@nanjing-school.com.

We hope to hear from you!

The TEDxYouth@NIS team
