Important information for leaving teachers with children at NIS re: clearance procedures etc

Dear All Leaving Staff who are here in Nanjing,

I know that many of you are already thinking about the the list of things that need to be done before 19th June. Below is information on how to complete the Clearance Procedures for your child or children.

Each leaving student in every grade must complete a Clearance Form. The parent needs to complete the whole form for PS, and for MS/US the front page is for parents and the other two sheets for the students to complete.

(Katie will organise for the G12’s to get their forms done)

Forms can be obtained from Main Reception, Admissions or downloaded off the website on the Parent Portal or FAQ’s via this link: https://www.nischina.org/my-nis

· On the student’s last day – in exchange for their completed form we will hand over the studentship letter in PS and transcripts in MS/US. This is done by the ladies on Main Reception with support from Admissions. As school ends at 11am please encourage all concerned to get these forms completed in their final week – not the final hour or minutes!

Julia Zhang our Financial Controller on the 2nd floor of the Centre is always the last person to sign off on the form.

It is important that all MacBooks are handed into IT for them to clear off all school settings and software. Before this is done EVERYTHING must be backed up as it will be wiped clean and they will not be able to retrieve anything. I would encourage all leaving students in Grade 5 and MS to ask IT if they have any questions about this – especially in terms of the best time to get this done during their final week.

For students who use Seesaw here is the information on how to access their journal: Download Seesaw Journal1

  •  The S2 reports will be out on Thursday 18th June around 4pm. Download and print them off, as shortly after you have left NIS you will not have access to Veracross.
  • Do not forget to pick up the Year Book and make sure that they have been signed by their friends. This is a lasting memento and something to treasure when you are remembering happy times at NIS.
  • If you need recommendation letters contact our Counsellors.
  • All historical school reports can be downloaded here : Historical reports

The Admissions Office remains open throughout the summer break.

Any questions – drop by and see us in Admissions, call Sue on 13809022693 or email us at admissions@nanjing-school.com

We are all here to help and make sure that those final days here at NIS are happy and stress free!

Clearance forms and procedures for leaving students – important info

Reminder about leaving procedures – Clearance Forms etc

Dear All,

As the end of 2019 approaches there will be families moving on from NIS to new homes, schools and countries.

There are a couple of likely leaving dates : 13th Dec and 17th Jan 2020.

Below you will find information on our Clearance Forms and leaving procedures  in case you are asked questions, or are new to the process.

Each leaving student in every grade must complete a Clearance Form. The parent needs to complete the whole form for PS, and for MS/US the front page is for parents and the other two sheets for the students to complete. (Non native speaking parents may need some assistance in PS)

· Forms can be obtained from Main Reception, Admissions or downloaded off the website on the Parent Portal or FAQ’s. There is also a transfer flowchart in three languages to assist parents.

· On the student’s last day – in exchange for their completed form we will hand over the studentship letter in PS and transcripts in MS/US. This is done by the ladies on Main Reception with support from Admissions. As school ends at 11am please encourage all concerned to get these forms completed in their final week – not the final hour or minute!

· Julia Zhang, Financial Controller on the 2nd floor of the Centre opposite the lift is always the last person to sign off on the form. She checks that there is no money owing to school by the student and family.

· It is important that all MacBooks are handed into IT for them to clear off all school settings and software. Before this is done EVERYTHING must be backed up as it will be wiped clean and they will not be able to retrieve anything. I would encourage all leaving students in Grade 5 and MS to ask IT if they have any questions about this – especially in terms of the best time to get this done.

· The S1 reports will be out on Thursday, January 16th 2020, and not before.

· All leaving families must download and print them off, as once they have left NIS they will no longer have access to Veracross.

· If any student has a special request or needs help, send them to Admissions or to see Weiwei who will arrange an appointment with Kasson.

· Our Korean leavers often have complicated procedures for the papers needed for their return home. If they need help – pass them onto Weiwei and Kasson.

· The Admissions Office remains open throughout the winter break.

· Please continue to pass on any intel about leaving students. This can be a very unsettling time for some families who still do not know their future plans.

Any questions – come and see us in Admissions Office, call Sue on 13809022693 or email us at admissions@nanjing-school.com

Thanks for your help and cooperation.

Happy holidays!

Follow up on voting for our students art works – DO IT NOW !

I have been in touch with the EUCC who has clarified that in order to submit our votes we must:

  • Vote for 5 only in both age range categories (even though we have no students in the younger category who have submitted entries)
  • Press the green button at the bottom to submit your selection

Thanks everyone for taking a minute to do this – it is appreciated and will be great when NIS wins and our talented students get the chance to go on stage and collect their certificates!

Please vote for our NIS artists!

We have been invited by the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China (EUCCC) to participate in the 6th annual Corporate Social Responsibility Awards this year and the theme is“How can we preserve life on land?” linking to UN Development Goal #15.

7 of our amazing art students have submitted artworks. Please help vote for them by scanning the QR code on your WeChat (you can vote up to 5 artworks for each group) – voting ends Oct. 28th at 18:00.

Nanjing Olympic Museum – great resource in our city

Dear All

This very good museum is jam packed full of great information and displays about the Olympic movement and the Youth Olympics that were held here in 2014.
It is located in the Poly Theatre/Hotel complex near the beautiful pedestrian bridge (well worth a trip in itself for budding architects or designers ) south of the city in the CBD.

Free entrance with passport.

Good signage in English.

Lots to see and quite a bit of interactive stuff- need to check with the museum that it is all switched on and in working order.

Suitable for all ages.

Thoroughly recommend, and I have a copy of the brochure if anyone is interested in going along.

Note for Arden & Andrei in Harare

As I mentioned at Briefing on Monday morning, some of you might like to write a short message to Arden and Andrei.

As you all know Zimbabwe is in turmoil, and it is a demanding and stressful situation for both of them.

I will put a large sheet of A3 paper on the table in the Staff Room with a pen for  you to leave a message. Kasson is “popping” over there to do some training for Arden and her team next week, and he will take it with him on Friday.

Thanks

Sue
