Reminder NIC 30th Anniversary Membership BBQ at Shangri-La Hotel on Saturday, Sept 26th

The Legendary “Nanjing International Club” Welcome Back – Membership- Family BBQ will be held at the Shangri-La Hotel on Saturday, September 26th from noon onwards. This year the Club is celebrating its 30th Anniversary.

Free for NIC Members.

PTA Hoodies -important info about sample availability – last day for orders Friday 28th Aug

Dear All,

THE SAMPLES WILL BE REMOVED FROM STAFF LOUNGE TOMORROW, WEDNESDAY AND RETURNED

THURSDAY PM UNTIL FRIDAY LUNCH TIME.

ORDERS WILL BE CLOSED FROM FRIDAY AFTERNOON.

There will be a chance next week to order the much sought after navy NIS hoodies with your child’s name on the back, as well as other items from the PTA Shop.

The hoodie samples will be in the Staff Lounge from Monday – please do not take them away – bring your child into the nearby zone and they can try them on in the vicinity.  If they go walk about – I may be on a plane home…

The order forms will also be in the Staff Lounge. You can pay cash only to the Cashier, Angie on the 2nd floor of the Centre and leave your completed order form with her.

Today, Block 3, Grade 6 X-Block students meet in the Large Group Room where you will be met by our fabulous grade 7 & 8 Ambassadors, Mr Gani and Mr Snyder and taken to your new locations ready to start planning your next steps. Thank you to Bryce, Julia, Kayla, Kijana, Eric and Rosy.

CAS Experience Activity & Service – Yangshan Park Run September

Keep joining the volunteers for next coming Saturday Yangshan Park Run 5th & 19th September.Or you can run the 2k or the 5K (activity), even walk! A small registration fee of 20 rmb will be donated to charity (indirect service). Please stop by the Activities Office for help signing up.

Community Activities for Staff Only

I’m very pleases to let you know that Swim Lesson for staff is back!. We are able to offer three different courses on Wednesdays afternoon 4.30-5.00pm.

  • Improving Skills and Swimming Strokes:Improves participants’ proficiency in basic aquatic skills and the basic swimming strokes. Teach skills and concepts needed to stay safe in and around water and to help themselves or others in an aquatic emergency. (American Red Cross, Adult Swim -Improving skills and swimming strokes – prerequisites: Participants must ble to perform strokes that can be recognized as front crawl, breaststroke and back crawl, each for 15m)
  • Swimming for Fitness: Refines participants’ freestyle, backstroke, and breaststroke strokes and turns and builds endurance. Teaches skills and concepts needed to stay safe in and around water. (American Red Cross, Adult Swimming for Fitness– prerequisites: Participants must ble to swim 25m for 3 different recognizable strokes)
  • Learning the Basics: Helps participants gain basic aquatic skills and swimming strokes. Teaches skills and concepts needed to stay safe in and around water and to help themselves or others in an aquatic emergency. (American Red Cross , Adult Swim -Learning the Basics – no prerequisites)

Session 1 starts on September 9th: Sep. 9th/16th/23rd/30th and Oct.14th/28th. Sign ups will be open tomorrow on Veracross. Please feel free to contact me with your questions.

Cross Country sign ups are open

Our fantastic Cross Country running program starts on Tuesday 25th August (next week). All students from Grade 4 – 12 are strongly encouraged to come out and give it a go, even if they have never done any running before, all levels of runner are welcomed. We have 2 sessions per week. The Tuesday session is on campus while the Thursday session will be in a local park where the athletes get the opportunity to practice on different terrains. If we are able to travel to the competitions, they will take place in Suzhou and Chengdu. Sign ups are now open on Veracross. Our amazing coaches are Mrs Bratton, Mr Lee and Ms Ge.
