The following list are the basics to get to started.
Go through the 16 items to ensure that you have a basic understanding of the institutional knowledge here at NIS.
- Logging on to Laptop:
There is no password on the laptop computer the first time you log in.
To change the password, go to:
–> the Apple (in the top left corner)
–> System Preferences
–> Users & Groups
–> Change Password
- Connecting to Wifi (on personal devices, like iPhones and iPads as well):
Teachers use the “Teacher” network, which uses the Hong Kong line.
In order to login, use your first and last name (with no spaces) and the password that you created through the email that was sent to you.
This is the same password for: email, Wifi, Veracross, Office 365, the server, and Edublogs.
NOTE: Parents are able to connect to the free wifi at our school using the “Very Important Parent” network for up to 2 hours. They will be prompted with a Login to accept the Terms.
- Printing:

Make sure Astrill is turned OFF
To print from Office products, go to:
–> “File”
–> “Page Setup” – Choose Size and Orientation
–> “File”
–> “Print” – Send only 1 copy (You can change that at the printer)
–> Choose “Layout” – (if you would like two-sided)
–> Press “Print”
–> Equitrac will open – Key in your “first and last name” (no spaces) along with your “email password”
Don’t forget to Press “Accept”To print from Other programs or the internet, go to:
–> “File”
–> “Print” – Print using system dialogue
–> You may need to press “Show details” (from there, you can choose paper size, orientation, 2-sided, etc.)
Send only 1 copy
–> Press “Print”
–> Equitrac will open – Key in your “first and last name” (no spaces) along with your “email password”
Don’t forget to Press “Accept”To print Multiple copies:
Send only 1 copy from the computer (This ensures that it sends faster – Max 50Mbs file)
–> Bring your card – scan on printer
–> Choose “Copies”
–> Press “+1” or “+10” depending upon your needs
–> Press the little red “x”
–> Print
- Setup email

You can get access your email either from the webmail website: https://login.microsoftonline.com/ or by connecting your email account with Microsoft Outlook.app. Please check the attachment for steps to setup email on Microsoft Outlook.app: Connect School Email to Outlook.app
- Servers – Connect
To connect to Servers, go to Finder:
–> Go
–> Connect to Server
–> Type either:- afp://pypserver.nanjing-school.com
- afp://largestorage.nanjing-school.com
- afp://fileserver.nanjing-school.com (for Budget, ICT Resources, iLife, Mediacore Video, Public, StudentShare, Teacher Support)

–> Repeat where necessary (These are Read-Only)PYP grades have many different calendars, and they use Period scheduling, which are half the time of MYP and DP blocks.
