Block 1 today in MSUS

Are you a Middle or Upper School student? Do you know where you are supposed to be in block 1 today? These are the possible options:

  • In an exam (All of Grade 10 and some students in Grades 7 -9)
  • In an activity that you have previously signed up for (check your Veracross portal)
  • In the US Student lounge (G11 only)
  • In your regular class (Grade 6 only)

If in doubt, ask your Advisor for help 🙂

Lost Keys

I have lost a set of keys. They are on a ring with a pink London 2012 Olympics key chain. Did I leave them in your room on Monday? Did I leave them on a table somewhere? If you see them please send them my way.

Thanks a million, Ruth

Internet Patience Week

Good morning!

Every so often we are reminded about the gift of the “free” internet – that is, the freedom to connect to any site in the world in the pursuit of international-minded research and perspectives. This week has the potential for one of those weeks as we see a tightening of internet circulation before, during and after the 4th of June, which may affect the smooth functioning of our personal and school VPN. Please bear this in mind as you prepare for your classes, and we thank you in advance for your patience as our IT Team works to maintain as seamless a surfing experience as possible.

Thank you,

The NIS IT Team

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ALL TEACHERS RE: LEAVING STUDENTS

Dear All,

The end of another school year is fast approaching, and that means among other things : Clearance Forms for our leaving students and their families.

Below you will find information on our Clearance Forms and leaving procedures  in case you are asked questions, or are new to the process.

Each leaving student in every grade must complete a Clearance Form. The parent needs to complete the whole form for PS, and for MS/US the front page is for parents and the other two sheets for the students to complete. (Non native speaking parents may need some assistance in PS)·

(Katie Ham has organised for the G12’s to get their forms done before graduation)

Forms can be obtained from Main Reception, Admissions or downloaded off the website on the Parent Portal or FAQ’s

· On the student’s last day – in exchange for their completed form we will hand over the studentship letter in PS and transcripts in MS/US. This is done by the ladies on Main Reception with support from Admissions. As school ends at 11am please encourage all concerned to get these forms completed in their final week – not the final hour or minutes!

Occasionally we have students leaving early – keep an ear out for those so we can make sure that they are supported too.

Julia Zhang our Financial Controller on the 2nd floor of the Centre opposite the lift is always the last person to sign off on the form. She checks that there is no money owing to school by the student and the family.·

It is important that all MacBooks are handed into IT for them to clear off all school settings and software. Before this is done EVERYTHING must be backed up as it will be wiped clean and they will not be able to retrieve anything. I would encourage all leaving students in Grade 5 and MS to ask IT if they have any questions about this – especially in terms of the best time to get this done during their final week.

· The S2 reports will be out on Thursday 2oth June around 4pm and not before. All leaving families must download and print them off, as once they have left NIS they will no longer have access to Veracross.

· If any student has a special request or needs help, send them to see Weiwei who will arrange an appointment with Kasson if needed.
· Our Korean leavers often have complicated procedures for the papers needed for their return home. If they need help once again pass them onto Weiwei and Kasson.

· The Admissions Office remains open throughout the summer break.

· Please continue to pass on any intel about leaving students. This can be a very unsettling time for some families who are still not sure of their future plans.

Any questions – come and see us in Admissions Office, call Sue on 13809022693 or email us at admissions@nanjing-school.com

Thanks for your help and cooperation.
