Physics is the start of a two year Diploma Program which focuses on classical and modern Physics. At the end of a proscribed syllabus, all students will study two options (out of a selection of eight). The class has students doing both higher level and standard level Physics. All students will have an internal assessment section of the course which is strictly lab-based. The internal assessment will account for twenty-four percent of their grade. The remainder of the grade will come from an external examination taken at the end of the two years.
Physics is the most fundamental of the experimental sciences, as it seeks to explain the universe itself, from the very smallest particles—quarks (perhaps 10^–17 m in size), which may be truly fundamental—to the vast distances between galaxies (10^24 m).
