Grade 6

Physical Education in Grade 6 focuses on the acquisition of locomotor, non locomotor and basic manipulative skills as well as developing theorical knowledge of rules and health-related topics.

In the 1st semester this is achieved through participation in aquatic activities, introduction to movement composition and adventure challenge.  In the 2nd semester students reinforce choreographic concepts learned in 1st semester to create a group movement composition, participate in track & field events in preparation for Athletics Day and begin to develop and refine tactics through the use of the principles of play in invasion games. Health-related activities runs for the whole year and covers; fitness components, basic training of fitness components and body systems – specifically the skeletal system. The emphasis for the course is on developing the skills to lead and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
