Grade 8

Physical Education in Grade 8 focuses on training specific locomotor, non locomotor,  and manipulative skills as well as the introduction of planning and strategical skills. There is also a focus on health-related activities, such as fitness and body systems.

In the 1st semester this is achieved through participation in aquatic activities, adventure challenge (orienteering) and a jump rope composition.  In the 2nd semester students further develop their movement composition skills to create a group aerobic composition, participate in track & field events in preparation for Athletics Day and further develop and refine tactics through the use of the principles of play in invasion games. Health-related activities runs for the whole year and covers; fitness components, training for specific fitness components, eating disorders, introductory nutrition and body systems – circulatory and respiratory systems. The emphasis for the course is on developing the skills to lead and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
