Physical Education in Grade 9 focuses on training intermediate locomotor, non locomotor and manipulative skills also developing planning and strategical skills. There is also a focus on health-related activities, such as fitness and body systems.
In the 1st semester this is achieved through participation in aquatic activities, and a group movement composition. In the 2nd semester students further develop their movement composition skills with a creative martial arts composition, participate in track & field events in preparation for Athletics Day and experience different roles in sport through a sport education approach to net games . Health-related activities runs for the whole year and covers; fitness components, training for specific fitness components, sports injuries, nutrition and body systems – digestive system, introduction to energy systems. The emphasis for the course is on making decisions that lead to maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
