Grade 9 Chemistry

Grade 9 Chemistry is part of a two year program where students learn the fundamentals of chemistry within the assessment structure of the MYP.       An emphasis is placed on lab skills, lab design and the relationship of chemistry to the global environment.

In General,  Grade 9 Chemistry is broken down into five units:

Unit one: Atoms, ions and the Periodic table                                   ( August, September, October )

Unit two: Ionic compounds and Limestone                        (November, December, )

Unit Three: Reaction rates                                                                (January, February, March )

Unit Four: Energetics of chemistry                                                  (March, April, May )

Unit Five: Acids, Bases and Salts ( May, June)
