By the end of Grade 2, students will be able to:

  • apply the idea of giving credit to self and others.
  • explain that the information stays online forever.
  • describe information that should go online – for every audience.
  • explain what it means to “ask to take” and “ask to post”.
  • explain how to be respectful online and offline.
  • illustrate how tone can be misunderstood online.
  • write clear and polite emails or text messages.

By the end of Grade 5, students will be able to:

  • explain how and why to cite sources and ideas properly.
  • use and employ properly attributed sources, including creative commons.
  • identify and create APA style citation for multiple source types.
  • summarize offline and online responsibilities.
  • explain what being good digital citizens is online and offline.
  • empathize, explain, and create appropriate responses to be an “up-stander” in a negative situation.
  • distinguish between harmless and harmful communication and acts online and offline.
  • resolve digital issues.
  • develop strategies for dealing respectfully with cyberbullying.
  • describe and evaluate gender issues.
  • explain why stereotypes can be limiting or negative.
