ADHD Student Panel Spicy Bite

Thank you, fervently to everyone who has attended the Spicy Bite sessions this week. Awareness is Key is the theme for ADHD Awareness Month, 2024, and you have all clearly embraced it wholeheartedly. What a community!

One of the highlights is today, Thursday, October 17th!

Lunch 1 (12.00-12.30) sees the first ever Student Panel Debut, in the LGR 2, Lunch 1, to explore the lived experience of our ADHDer’s in our learning spaces.

Lunch 2 (12.30 -13.00) is time for Dr. Doak, and Bobby AI- Lunch Byte and Spicy Bite combined, in LGR2.

Title: True Calligraphy

Medium: Chinese Ink on Xuan Paper, copy paper

Artist Statement:

In this work, I use three kinds of characters, a seal script, an official script, and a cursive script. And the fourth one is how the AI writes the characters. The four kinds of writing are ways to write in Chinese of the word “Artificial Intelligent”. The top row of English, pd.read – csv (), is a function in the pandas library, used to read Chinese characters correctly. This is an important part of AI writing calligraphy.

I want to show others how AI has changed how we record things. In ancient China, people recorded things by writing calligraphy, and because of technology, we now use AI to record things.  What we write with the brush in our hands is not only one Chinese character but also our understanding of Chinese culture. AI views calligraphy as a series of symbols. I think only human hands can create true works of art. In the realm of traditional culture, AI cannot replace humans.

ISNAC I.M Ready Swim Meet – 18th Oct

Dear colleagues,

Due to high participating numbers, we have decided to start our I.M.Ready ISNAC swim meet earlier this Friday, here in our swimming pool.
All participating students (see list below) should arrive inn the changing rooms no later than 1.00 pm to get changed and ready for warm up.

PS teachers: The participating swimmers can have lunch at 12.30 pm. We will have 2 swim coaching to supervise and bring them to the pool after. Please make sure those students arrive at the cafeteria no later than 12.30 pm, so they have enough time to eat and get to the changing rooms.

SS teachers: the students on the list will be absent from your classes after lunch, blocks 4 and 5.

The swim meet itself is now scheduled to start at 1.30 pm and expected to finish at 5.30 pm.

Welcoming New Students from Saudi Arabia: Important Cultural Considerations

Dear all,

We will be welcoming a group of seven students transferring from Saudi Arabia tomorrow during their enrollment day. Their families work for Sabic, a leading petrochemical company majority-owned by Saudi Aramco. Sabic is engaged in a joint venture with Sinopec.

While most cultural differences are minor and do not require special attention, there are a few things you may want to be aware of:

  • Physical contact: Adults may prefer to avoid physical contact with members of the opposite sex, so a handshake might be declined.
  • Halal options: Younger children may need assistance in selecting Halal food options at the cafeteria. These will be clearly marked on the information sheet at the choice table.
  • Prayer needs: Students above Grade 7 may request a quiet space to pray once a day, around 12:15 p.m. The secondary counsellors have offered their space for this purpose if needed
  • Clothing: Female students in the Grade 7+ age group may or may not choose to wear headscarves (hijabs), which is entirely their personal choice.
