Dear all,
We will be welcoming a group of seven students transferring from Saudi Arabia tomorrow during their enrollment day. Their families work for Sabic, a leading petrochemical company majority-owned by Saudi Aramco. Sabic is engaged in a joint venture with Sinopec.
While most cultural differences are minor and do not require special attention, there are a few things you may want to be aware of:
- Physical contact: Adults may prefer to avoid physical contact with members of the opposite sex, so a handshake might be declined.
- Halal options: Younger children may need assistance in selecting Halal food options at the cafeteria. These will be clearly marked on the information sheet at the choice table.
- Prayer needs: Students above Grade 7 may request a quiet space to pray once a day, around 12:15 p.m. The secondary counsellors have offered their space for this purpose if needed
- Clothing: Female students in the Grade 7+ age group may or may not choose to wear headscarves (hijabs), which is entirely their personal choice.
As always, feel free to reach out if you have any questions or would like further information about supporting our new community members.
Kind regards,
The Admissions Team
