Good morning all, today at 10:30, Secondary has Department Collaboration time. Please choose a location to meet and then see the agenda below.
Agenda:
Return to the minutes from the previous department meeting and discuss any unfinished business. Then, choose one or more of the following options to work through collaboratively.
Options:
a. Continue collaboratively working on the tasks and exploring the resources from this morning’s presentation from Chris, Shiqi and Alexia. Here is a link to their folder of resources: Unlocking Language Objectives Resources. Explore their tips for using Magic School to support your work or continue thinking through your units using their language objective planner.
b. Explore Ceci’s translanguaging padlet and the resources she provided. Consider using her prompts to have MagicSchool help to craft lesson plans and objectives. She has provided templates and completed samples on the padlet. Share what you create.
c. With your teaching partner(s) Look at your current units and consider both your content objectives and your language objectives for the upcoming week. What will the students need to understand and what kind of language output will they need to complete?
How can you build in intentional and strategic translanguaging opportunities (for input, intake/sense making or ouput) as a tool to help reach one or both of those objectives? What other strategies can you use to scaffold and to remove barriers?
d. Play with Teams ‘Collaboration Space’ or Class Notebooks for building digital word walls with students or curating resources for students. (Later, go to Ken’s optional session on using Teams to learn more about this)
Primary teachers will meet in LGR1 (not the PAC) at 8am this morning for the ELL language objective session.
