History is an exploratory subject that fosters a sense of inquiry. It is also an interpretive discipline, allowing opportunity for engagement with multiple perspectives and a plurality of opinions. Study history develops an understanding of the past, which leads to a deeper understanding of the nature of humans and the world today.”

Paper 1: The Document Paper (SL/HL)
NIS has chosen to do Prescribed subject 3: The move to global war:
Case Study 1: German and Italian expansion (1933-1940)
Case Study 2: Japanese expansion in East Asia (1931-1941)
Paper 2: World History Essay Paper (SL/HL)
All students must study two of several available “Topics”. We have chosen to cover:
Topic 10 – Authoritarian States (Germany – Hitler, China – Mao)
Topic 12 – The Cold War: Superpower tensions and rivalries
These topics will be assessed through Paper 2 of the DP History examination for all DP History students.
Paper 3: History of Asia and Oceania Essay Paper (HL only)
Higher Level students must do one additional paper covering another topic option. This is the Paper 3 HL Examination. Specifically, we will focus on East Asia choosing to cover the following topics:
12: China and Korea (1910-1950)
14: The People’s Republic of China (1949-2005)
15: Cold War Conflicts in Asia
