During the period of the Cold War there were times when the tension between the super powers became acute and the world drew closer to war between the USA and the USSR or even to nuclear war.  In this part of the unit you will look in more depth at three of these moments of drama and tension.  They were times when the nature of the Cold War changed – they were turning points.
