You are going to hold a debate. The provocation that you will be debating is:
Religion is still relevant in today’s world
- You will either agree (pro) or disagree (con) with the provocation above
- You will hold the debate in a group of 3 following the pattern below
- The speeches that you write will be graded after the debate
You will work in a group of 3. One person will be on the pro side one person will be on the con side and one will be a judge.

Pro: Opening Speech – 1 minute
Judge clarifies – 1 minute
Con: Opening Speech – 1 minute
Judge clarifies – 1 minute
Pro: Main speech – 3 minutes
Judge clarifies – 1 minute
Con: Main speech – 3 minutes
Judge clarifies – 1 minute
Pro and Con: Crossfire preparation – 2 minutes
Crossfire – 3 questions each side taken alternately with judge clarification in between each.
Pro: Closing Speech
Judge clarifies – 1 minute
Con: Closing speech 1 minute
Judge clarifies – 1 minute
