PYP Interhouse Skipping Competition

Wutaishan will be hosting an  interhouse skipping competition starting this Thursday, April

23th.

The green gym will be available every day during second lunch for students to create and practice their skipping routines in house groups.

Everyone will compete to the same music.

Skipping ropes will be available in the gym.

There will be two categories of competition: grades 2 & 3 (category one) and grades 4 & 5 ( category two).

If you would like to take part in this activity find a group from your house team and come down to the green gym, second half of lunch to create a great routine.

You can practice every day until April 30th, when our special judges will mark you on the complexity of your skipping routines.

The finale will be held on Thursday April 30th, second half of lunch. Bring your house spirt your bouncy feet and your skipping skills.

Interhouse Music Competition

The year is quickly coming to a close, which means it’s time to start thinking about this year’s interhouse music competition! Each year it gets better and better, with even more creative and interesting artistic interpretations. The first year was rock, with “Livin’ on a Prayer.”  The second year was counter, with “Ring of Fire.” This year… drum roll please… we are going with Latin jazz! And the song? “Sway.”

Sway is a Spanish song first recorded as “Quien Sera.” Since then it’s been covered by a variety of different artists, including Dean Martin, Jennifer Lopez, Michael Buble and the Pussy Cat Dolls.

Steps:

1. See your house captain to express interest in performing. You don’t need to find a group because your house captain will put you in touch with other musicians.

2. Go to studentlargestorage / music / interhouse / MYPDP and download the video files, leadsheet and sheet music.

3. Get together with your group and start practicing.

4. The competition will take place the week of May 12th, with more details to follow.

Miss Bonnie and Miss Keus will help every group equally because they are not the judges for the event. If you have any questions or comments, please come see Miss Keus or your house captain.

Good luck everyone! Make us all sway!
