Year: 2015

School Bell

This week’s bell is “Waiting for Love,” submitted by both Mello and Synder advisories – two groups with great tastes. “Waiting for Love” was produced by Avicii (Tim Burgling), a Swedish DJ, remixer, and music producer. A 2015, this song is sung by Simon Alfred and is about a dog searching for its lost owner during a war.

To find out when your bell will be played, go to Office365.

Bags: The Saga Continues…

Hello MYP/DP Superstars.

Thanks for making the shift to using your locker at the start and end of lunch, for waiting for the bell to head upstairs for Block 5, and for not leaving your bags in the library, games room, or in various other places around the gym/cafeteria. Well done.

Now, the question has become: what should students who are using the library for academic purposes and/or games room attendees do with their backpacks when it’s time to eat lunch?

The answer is simple. These students should take their bags to their directly to their lockers at the start of MYP/DP lunch quietly and independently, then head to the cafeteria. Keywords: directly, quietly, independently.

Thanks for your continued contribution in making NIS a safe, happy, and secure learning community!

MYP/DP Assemblies:

If you have an item you would like to include in an MYP/DP assembly please let me know as soon as possible before the assembly you wish. Generally items are on a first come first served basis. If there is no space I will inform you of the next available assembly slot. All digital files need to be with me by Thursday 12:55 prior to the assembly. Please email me the file or place on server at afp://largestorage.nanjing-school.com/Student_1Yr_Temp_Large/Assemblies

PYP Assemblies:

If your grade level wishes to use the theatre for practice please email me to arrange a time well in advance. This is to avoid any disappointment as the theatre does get extremely busy at certain times during the year!

MUN at NIS – First meeting of the year

Interested in global issues?

Want to meet new people and travel to other schools?

Just like to argue?

We will be having our first MUN meeting of the year this Friday at 3:15 in room D241.  At this meeting we will introduce MUN and talk about the year ahead including opportunities for people in all MYP grades to get involved and contribute in different ways.  No MUN experience needed for this meeting, no need to have signed up ahead of time.  This is your chance to come and see what MUN is about.  And if we have time Derron is going to start us brainstorming the NISMUN topics for this February.
