MUN Club calls on interested students to sign up as soon as possible. This year NIS will attend CISSMUN, BEIMUN, and QISSMUN. Refer to Calendar 2019-2020 for specific dates. As in the past, we will meet and practice debates on Mondays and Wednesdays at Lunch Breaks. Our first practice is on August 26. Feel free to come and talk to an experienced participant or one of the MUN Advisors (Ms. Sunny Wang, Ms. Lucia Jin, Mr. Anthony Lee) if you have questions.

12 students from Grade 8 to 11 are attending CISSMUN X in Shanghai from January 18-20. They should have already notified all the Advisory teachers and relevant teachers regarding their assignments and absence on Friday, January 18.

CNY Spirit Day Dress-up

The Year of Monkey is just around the corner. This is a message to call attention to the upcoming CNY Day celebration on February 5. Please get your traditional Chinese jacket or dress ready. If you are new to China, you might want to check the shops in the neighborhood. Su Guo usually sells clothes for the new year. To have your ideal style or material, you can even have your jacket or dress tailor made. Ask a Chinese colleague for help.

Friday CNY Assembly Update

Please remember to wear a Chinese jacket or dress for this Friday’s CNY Assembly Spirit Day.  The Chinese folk art and crafts vendors have prepared special products to demonstrate and sell. Also don’t forget to bring a little cash to spend. The weather forecast for this Friday is sunny 17 degrees. Fingers crossed.

2015 Chinese New Year Assembly Schedule and Performance

Dear All,

This year’s Chinese New Year assembly is on Friday, February 13, happening in just two weeks.  Can all homeroom teachers please remind your students or send notices home for dressing up in traditional Chinese clothes for that day? We’ll have dragon/lion dances, exciting Wei Feng drums, and folk dancers performing in front of the Academic Building. We’ll also have folk art and crafts vendors exhibiting their arts and products in the Foyer. The students can also bring some money and buy goodies they like. Please find the assembly schedule and program in the attachment.
