Higher Education Afternoon

Join us for Higher Education Afternoon information session to delve into the critical topic of NIS students’ college applications. Chinese and Korean translations will be provided.

Who: Grade 12 & 11 students (mandatory)and parents (strongly recommended), Grade 9-10 students and parents (optional)

Attendees will learn about the following:

  • College application trends and updates on NIS senior students
  • Tips and insights from innovative university counseling programs implemented by the NIS university counseling department to equip students with tools for achieving their post-secondary goals
  • How families can provide positive and constructive support throughout their child’s PSI application journey
  • Expectations for G12/11 to G10/9 students and how they can prepare themselves as inquiring and well-balanced learners in exploring their post-secondary options

Robotics Event in Shanghai

NIS is taking a small team of students to Shanghai for the VEX Robotics 16hr Build Event on Saturday 16th Sept.

There are limited positions available, so if you are keen to come and take part,  come and see Mr Brady to register your name and get further information.  Registration closes Friday 1st Sept.

Student Coaching – CAS/GCD Project opportunity G11

The completion of a PROJECT in collaboration with at least one other human which lasts more than a month, that achieves an outcome and at least one strand is required.

Student Coaching could fulfill your project requirement.

We need student coaches for:

Reminder about ACAMIS Tennis

NIS is working toward taking a Tennis Team to Beijing for this years ACAMIS Tournament.

This opportunity is available to students from Grades 6-12.

To register your interest in being part of this team, please come and see Mr Brady in the Design Centre for more information.

G11 Student Volunteers needed for Early Years After School Program

We need committed G11 students who can offer an activity such as art, music, sport, science etc to our students in K1 and K2. The cycle runs for 7 weeks and this would meet the time commitment for your CAS/GCD projects.

You can choose Mondays or Wednesdays, 3.05 – 4.15.

G7-12 Student Council Meeting

This meeting is for students who played an important and active role in last year’s Student Council with Ms Beck.

We will have a meeting Monday AUG 21) , Lunch 1, in D228 with Mr Toole to discuss how to create this year’s Student Council.

 

Reminder about Robotics Competition

Are you in G8-12 and have an interest and passion in Robotics?

Shanghai American School Puxi is holding an exciting Vex 16hr Robotics Build Event on Saturday 16th of September and Mr Brady has been able to reserve a number of places for NIS students to participate. Students get to attend two workshops throughout the course of the day, and will get hands on, practical experience with building, programming and competing (for fun).

This event is being organised and led by the Shanghai American School  and places have been strictly limited. The event will run from 0600 – 2200 (yes, you did read that correctly, 6a.m. start!!!).  So participating students would travel to Shanghai on Friday afternoon and return Sunday morning.

No equipment or experience is needed, everything will be provided.  Students get to partner up with a friend, and will then be put in mixed teams from there.

There are a limited number of positions available, so just a reminder, if you are interested in participating, please come and see Mr Brady in the Design Centre asap so you don’t miss out.
