Teacher AI Guidance

Please click here for a handy one-pager on the use of AI at NIS. A student version was also shared this morning after additional feedback from Secondary Student Council. The overall goal is to be clear with students about the extent to which AI tools can be used based on what is (and what is not) being assessed. Let’s Look for opportunities for the creative use of AI tools like Magic School without impacting our ability to assess students’ skills, knowledge, and understanding. Please see our NIS AI webpage for more information. Please also feel free to speak with Shannon or Ken about ways to leverage AI in teaching and learning. Many thanks!

Student AI Guidance

Hello NIS Students,

Please take a look at this handy one-page document to give you some guidance and start conversations with your teachers about AI use in you classes. The most important thing is to work with your teachers to determine the extent to which AI can be used. This is largely based on what is being assessed. Our goal is to give feedback that improves your understanding and academic growth. Your teachers grading and giving you feedback on AI-generated work does not help you learn!

Please also check out our NIS AI webpage for AI-related resources, citation guides, and your very own bot!

TEACHER RESEARCH
EFFECTIVE TEACHERS IN INTERNATIONAL SCHOOLS: WHAT WE KNOW AND WHAT WE NEED TOKNOW
By Leslie W. Grant, James H. Strong , Swathi Menon, & Altaf Khosa

So Why Are Teachers (and Teacher Research) So Important for International Schools? We’ve known for as long as there have been schools that the quality of education – and especially student learning – is largely a conse- quence of the quality of the teachers who serve in a school. The formula for success in our profession is quite simple: Great teachers (and great leaders) = great schools!
