Round 2 – Panda Voting – Thursday & Friday

We are down to 8 books! Teachers and students, choose your favorites. All books can be found in the Sunday bulletin if you want to re-read any of them (teachers).

Voting will close on Friday, March 29, at 15:00. Teachers, please share the QR code and/or link with your students so they can vote. EY teachers, please feel free to use this document to count tallies for your students (get to me by 15:00 on Friday, please).

MAP Testing After the Break!

Shortly after the break student in Grades 6-10 will embark upon the hero’s quest that is the Spring reading and math MAP assessments. Please look out for details shortly after our collective return. As always, MAP presents a wonderful opportunity to demonstrate your academic growth. Coming soon!

Scuba diving opens up a thrilling world beneath the waves, packed with adventure and excitement. Not only is it a fantastic way to stay fit and healthy, but it also teaches us the importance of protecting our oceans. Get your PADI certification before your summer holidays. Please check the poster for the dates. You can join the group chat by scanning the QR code outside the Activities Office.

New York Times subscriptions

All students and teachers at NIS have access to the New York Times, which has great articles for research and learning. You MUST use your school email when logging in. Let me know if you have any questions!

Congrats! As a student or faculty member at NIS, you have access to 

The New York Times. Get started by following these easy steps:

1. Visit nytimes.com/passes to activate your New York Times digital pass. 

2.  On nytimes.com/passes, click on “Create Account” and create a free account using your school email address. ​​​ If you already have registered a free NYTimes.com account associated with your school email address, log in with those credentials.

3. Validate your email address. Check your email inbox for a confirmation message from The NewYork Times. Click on the link in your confirmation message to validate your email address and claim your New York Times Academic Pass. This will bring you back to the academic pass page, where you will select whether you are a student or faculty member and select your graduation year if relevant. 

Note: ​​If the confirmation email doesn’t arrive, check your spam folder. If it isn’t there, send an email to schools@nytimes.com from your school email address to request confirmation.

4. Success! You have successfully claimed a Digital Pass when you see the “Start Your Access” screen. 

5. Explore NYTimes.com and The New York Times News App from any location, on or off campus, by simply logging into your NYTimes.com account directly on NYTimes.com! We strongly suggest you download the New York Times mobile app at nytimes.com/mobile. NYT Cooking and NYT Games are not included in your digital access.

To claim a new Pass after expiration, simply visit nytimes.com/passes and log in with your NYTimes.com account associated with your school email address.

Last few days of the DP Art Exhibition — Don’t miss it!

The DP Art Exhibition is still on display this week till Friday noon – if you haven’t had the chance to see the amazing artworks on display created by G12s Romana, Alvina, and Amber (and G11s Ella, Jen, Gabin) @ the Centre Cafe, 2F, please make haste!

The QR code has now been fixed (no email login necessary), kindly leave an encouraging comment for our talented artists! (the QR code is also posted everywhere in the exhibition).

NIS DP Visual Arts Exhibition Continues until this Friday, Mar. 22!

A huge THANK YOU to all those who made the time to come out and support our senior art students at the DP Visual Arts Exhibition this past Friday night. The exhibition was a huge success and we are forever grateful to have a community that believes in the value of Art education. Our students have worked so hard for the past two years so your presence meant a lot to us.

Today during Advisory you will be asked to complete a GOA Course Interest Form. This form is only an expression of interest in taking GOA Courses. There is no obligation to register for any courses selected on this form. We are simply collecting data to identify how many of you are interested in taking GOA Courses and which GOA Courses you are interested in taking.
