Music Room News

End of the Year!

1. Music Room Closure

– the music room needs to be cleaned and sorted before the end of the year. This means that rooms 251 and 252 will be closed during all breaks, lunches and after school. Exceptions: 2 bands practicing for the Yearbook Assembly.

2. Inventory

– we are still looking for more MIDI controllers and 4 flutes to come in so that we can close our inventory for the year.

3. Missing Fluke

– Miss Keus’ Fluke ukulele (the green triangle) is missing. This is a personal instrument that I’d like take home for the summer, so please bring it back by Wednesday at the latest.

Large Storage will be Erased

Both “Student_1Yr_Temp_Large” and “Teacher_1Yr_Temp_Large” on the LARGE STORAGE server will be erased at the end of this month.

On the other hand, the server named FILESERVER and PYPSERVER will not be touched. Items inside “Public” and “Teacher_Support” will be safe.

PYP Mediators

The PYP mediators have finished their first successful semester solving conflicts on the playground. In just five months these incredible 4th and 5th Graders solved 41 conflicts involving over 60 students. That’s 60+ kids who were able to return to class or play with a smile rather than a scowl. If you see any of our fabulous mediators (see photo) in the halls this last week, please congratulate and thank them for their commitment to making NIS a better and more peaceful place.

Accreditation

If you would like to join the Provisional Steering Committee to prepare for the Preliminary Visit in October please get in touch. Ideally I would like two more teachers. If you would like more information about the commitment involved or the accreditation process I would be happy to chat with you any time.

About the Upgrade to Yosemite – Good News!

Two exciting items:

  1. Once you have been upgraded to Yosemite, we encourage you to start using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote) to create and share school documents.
  2. From a small sample, we have noted that the upgrade to Yosemite speeds most processes up, except for the restart of the computer.  It means that once the computer is going, it is faster, as noted in the graphs below, which were generated using Excel.

MYP students…What is a grade anyway?

Grades…Ever wonder what that number really means? Did you know that your “grade” is not a grade at all?! That little digit represents a description of where you are now in a specific subject area (we just can’t fit the entire description on our report cards!). Have a look below or click this link for details! Grade Descriptors

Hi MYP/DP Students! Hungry?

Hello MYP/DP Students,

Have you just gone through the entire school year salivating, while gazing at the clock, waiting for 1:20 so you could finally eat lunch? Have you stared through the glass, watching your PYP siblings mock you as they feast on cheesy pretzels and chicken tortillas?

Now it’s your turn… On Wednesday this week YOU EAT FIRST! That’s right.

Here’s the plan:

Wednesday from 12:50-1:20pm MYP/DP Lunch

Wednesday from 1:20 MYP/DP head towards the PAC

Wednesday from 1:30 MYP/DP Students seated in the PAC

Wednesday from 1:40 Awards Assembly begins

Just remember not to gloat too much. On Thursday, it’s back to business as usual!

MYP/DP Awards Lists Posted Today

The lists of students receiving Semester Two Awards will be posted outside the MYP LGR today. If you think that you have met award criteria and are not on the list, please let Dr. Saavedra or I know ASAP! Thanks!
