All School Photo

Reminder at 8:15 today we will meet on the field for a all-school photo organized by the yearbook committee. Primary classes – go with your homerooms. Secondary – meet in the PAC as usual at 8:00 and you will go from there.

Orchestra Support Needed

We are seeking a DP Music student or an adult supervisor who can help support the music department sometimes on Mondays during orchestra. This might mean staying in the room and supervising while the kids run sectionals in practice rooms. It may mean working with our Gr10 rehearsal assistant to run the practices. It depends on your comfort level. If you are happy to help, please contact Miss Keus in M252. Thanks.

ACAMIS Kids Read- Rescheduled Meeting- Today

For those students in Grades 6-8 interested in learning more about ACAMIS Kids Read, we will have a brief meeting in the library TODAY at 1:00pm. No commitment is necessary at this point- just come along and find out more about this fun reading competition. Hope to see you there.

Respect for living things and the environment

Please have another word with your students about looking at, but not man-handling, the frogs in our grounds. It is not acceptable to catch them by hand or in plastic bottles; too many are dying.

Please also remind students they are responsible for putting their litter IN THE BIN.

Thank you.

Health at NIS

Good morning,

Yesterday afternoon you will have received an email addressed to parents about typical seasonal gastro-enteritis.  ISOS and Raffles have communicated that this is a common illness at this this time of year, and there is no cause for alarm.

In terms of teachers actions at school, please be extra vigilant about reminding students to wash their hands regularly and thoroughly.  If you have students who come to school unwell, please send them to the nurse.

Thank you,

Arden

Today: Learning Alchemists Environment – Lunch

Greetings fellow academic-practitioners,

  • Do you bask in the perusal of readings, plus those suggested and referenced in said articles as well?
  • Do you love finding new ways of thinking?
  • Are you comfortable with cognitive dissonance?

If so, starting TODAY, and continuing every
Thursday, in the Strategy Room
at Lunch
we will create a:
Learning Alchemists* Environment

We will:

  • Survey current, seminal, and even abject books on education, learning, and the periphery;
  • Analyse, elucidate, and debate Peer Reviewed articles;
  • Reflect on TED videos and the like;
  • Criticise and appraise current practice, gadgetry, and trends;
  • Share Ideas and “best practice";
  • Create an ongoing agenda as a group.

You need to:

  • Update your iPhones ?
  • Be prepared for controversy and aha moments
  • Bring a lunch (Maybe we’ll order in sometime)
  • Do prior readings – or watchings (if called for)

You do not need:

  • To come every week or for the whole of lunch (You can drop in and leave any time)

For our first encounter, we will watch a video,
comment on and critique it,
and create an agenda of items, readings, and videos for the next few meetings.

Come one, Come all.
Nihil Sine Causa (or is there?)
