ACAMIS Kids Read 2017

 

The library is looking for avid readers in Grades 6-8 who are interested in representing NIS at the annual ACAMIS Kids Read competition to be held February 16 & 17 in Tianjin.

If you love to read and have a brain that does well remembering details and trivia, then this is the team for you!

Our first informational meeting will be held on Wednesday September 7 at lunch (12:50) in the library. Please see Mrs. Rinker for more information.

 

Homework Club Today at 3:15

Come to the LSS Area (C142) at 3:15 if you need any help with:

Projects
Understanding material taught in class
Preparing for assessments
Written assignments
Organization
And basically anything else!

We are here to support you. There are always 2-3 teachers of multiple subject areas ready to help!

The Day of Games

This Friday during the first half of lunch in the Game Room be ready, Game Day is back.

Do you want to challenge your teachers to a game? Of course you do!
Who wouldn’t want to beat Mr. Bratton in Jenga as he screams when the tower falls?
Who wouldn’t want to call out, “Uno!” while Mr. Fischl still has 8 cards?
Who wouldn’t be happy watching Mr. Lietz fail to pick up the last remaining pen while playing spoons?Who wouldn’t want to counsel Ms. Bezzerides before she rage-quits Monopoly because she is going back to jail?

SCISAC Soccer starts today

There is still time to sign up for SCISAC soccer. If you have a clash with another activity, please speak to Mr Mello or Mr Chesterman or Mr Clarke, to see if we can work round it.

Game Day is back this Friday!

What is “Game Day” you ask?

Game Day is an AWESOME party held in the Game Room during the first half of lunch on Fridays. Any teacher and or student can bring and play a variety of games including Jenga, Spoons, Uno etc…

No sign up is required.

How AWESOME is Game Day?

So AWESOME that the word AWESOME doesn’t even begin to describe it.

US Admissions Process

Today at lunch 12:50 to 1:50 there will be a guest lecture on the US admissions process in the MYP/LGR.  Grade 11 and 12 this is a great opportunity to get some insight into the college search and application process!

ASA Cycle 1 – Signups (Open Monday Aug 29th)

ASA Cycle 1 Signups will open at 1.00pm Monday. Please sign up on your Veracross portal.

Signup Schedule

MOnday 1.00pm : G1-12 students can sign up for 1 ASA.

Tuesday 1.00pm : G2-12 students can sign up for a second ASA

Wednesday 1.00pm : G6-12 students can sign up for a third ASA.

Signups close Thursday 9.00

ISA Scheduling change

Dear Teachers of Grades 3 – 10,

Due to a change in the way that the ISAs (International Schools’ Assessments) are being conducted, we are now planning to have full ISA testing for Grades 5 and 6 ONLY. These will take place during the mornings of 26th and 27th September, as shown on the calendar. Please note this change from previous years. We plan to do the writing ISAs for Grades 3 and 4, and Grades 7 – 10 in February 2017.
