Learning in the HUB

We’re excited to see different groups using the HUB! To keep the momentum from our PLD days, we’ve made some updates effective Monday, November 11, 2024.

Please review the Learning in the HUB guide with your students and encourage them to explore less familiar areas (e.g., Grades 4-5 on the second and third floors, Grades 6-10 on the third floor and back area of the first floor). BTT teachers should reinforce the “Purposeful, Respectful, Responsible” principles by navigating these spaces.

I’ll discuss these new guidelines with parents at Coffee Morning on Wednesday, emphasizing those principles as well.

We look forward to continued learning in the HUB. Your ideas and feedback are valuable, so please share them using this open form.

Assistance with Robotics Competition at NIS

Dear teachers,

This coming Saturday (9th November), NIS is hosting our first ever VEXV5 Robotics Competition.

To ensure that the hosting of this event runs smoothly, there are a lot of small jobs that need to happen on the Saturday, so I am reaching out to see if you could volunteer some time to assist.

Activities that we will need assistance with include;

  • Robot Check-in: Making sure robots have their correct colour license plate on before each match
  • Pit Monitor:  Making sure teams head to match check-in ready for their match
  • Field Setup: Checking students reset the field correctly after each match

None of these activities require any knowledge of robotics.  If you are able to volunteer a few hours of your time on Saturday, please let me know.

I will be running an information session on Friday for anybody who is interested and able to assist, where I will be showing people exactly what each activity involves.  If you cannot make it to that information session, I will also be able to show you what is involved on the Saturday morning. None of the activities are very complicated.

Cheers.  Ken and the Robotics Team
