Bell Submission Reminder

One proud tradition of our school is that students choose the bells. This is typically done by Primary homerooms, Secondary Advisories, or other NIS student groups with songs in their collective hearts and/or positive messages to share.

Bell must be appropriate for all ages and under 10 seconds in length. They are usually songs that are downloaded, then edited in Quicktime or other music programs, then saved in one of the usual audio file types.

Any homeroom, Advisory, or student group that would like to submit a bell should upload their selections to the prestigious Official NIS Weekly Bell Selection Committee using this folder. Putting the homeroom/Advisory/group in the file name is also encouraged. Thanks!

Pfrang Giving Tree Cards

Teachers, Students, and Parents

If you haven’t seen us in the Centre Foyer each morning, the Pfrang Association and the Pfrang Student Service Group have been set up selling Giving Tree cards this week. We will continue until all 270 cards have been sold, decorated and returned. If you are wondering what the Giving Tree is, it’s a Pfrang initiative in which we sell a card to someone LIKE YOU for 100rmb. You write an inspirational or festive message on the card that is addressed to one of the students the Pfrang Association supports. Stickers/drawings/other decorations are encouraged. With the 100rmb, we will purchase a school bag and fill it with items that the supported student could use while living in the school dormitories. We will then connect your card to their bag and give them together so that the student can see and feel the support given by the Nanjing International School community.

When you buy a card, you will notice that someone will write the name of your Homeroom/Advisory teacher next to your name. This is because, as an incentive, we are offering the Primary Homeroom and the Secondary Advisory that buy the most cards a donated PIZZA PARTY. So please, stop by the Pfrang table while walking in to school and pick one, two, or more Giving Tree cards.

Tech Tip 13: Setting up POE on your Laptop to access AI in your classroom.

POE is an interface that you can use to access a range of generative AI tools including ChatGPT and Claude for generating text, and DALL-E and StableDiffusion for generating images. Whilst still needing a VPN, access to these AI tools through POE is available to users within China.

To start using POE you can use the website directly at https://poe.com/ or you can install the POE App.

If you’re having difficulty getting access to POE onto your laptop, you can use the steps in this How to Guide, or you can watch the following short video.
