Pete the Cat

With both Pre K and K2 over the last few weeks, we have had great fun exploring the Pete the Cat series by Eric Litwin. This is a wonderful series of picture books about a cat who encounters a variety of challenging situations (stepping in things, losing buttons, being in strange places), but he always has a positive attitude. Pete maintains the attitude, “It’s all good.”

The best thing about Pete the Cat are the songs that go along with the books. Students have enjoyed singing the songs, and I love to hear them continue singing them in the hallways. You can download the songs and activities as well at the Harper Collins Children’s website. Look for this blue box on the right.

Pre K also had the chance today to look for picture books in the “big boxes”. The kids found the box that had the first letter of their name, and chose from that collection (authors whose last names start with that letter).

Hey kids, listen carefully to the school bell after the May holiday. You might recognize it!
