2015 Chinese New Year Assembly Schedule and Performance

Dear All,

This year’s Chinese New Year assembly is on Friday, February 13, happening in just two weeks.  Can all homeroom teachers please remind your students or send notices home for dressing up in traditional Chinese clothes for that day? We’ll have dragon/lion dances, exciting Wei Feng drums, and folk dancers performing in front of the Academic Building. We’ll also have folk art and crafts vendors exhibiting their arts and products in the Foyer. The students can also bring some money and buy goodies they like. Please find the assembly schedule and program in the attachment.

Found – cell phone

If you lost a cell phone yesterday, please see Mrs Tyoschin to see if it is yours.  (No – this is not the same one that was just posted as “lost”.)

Lost – cell phone

If you have found an iPhone in a pink case, please bring it to Mrs Tyoschin’s office.  It was lost yesterday at break.

Thank you!

Mr. Bratton Out

Just a quick reminder to MYP teachers that I will be out learning about the rich cultural heritage of Nanjing with Grade 8’s all day tomorrow. Juan said that he is happy to do both of our jobs tomorrow since he basically already does every other day anyway. Perfect!

ACAMIS Kids Read Friday

Stop by the PAC on Friday to support our NIS Kids Read Team as they compete against 8 other schools in a reading quiz bowl. Our NIS team is comprised of 9 avid readers from Grades 6-8- Anselma, Emily, Eva, Lucy, Noah, Angela C., Angela W., Felicity and Sean!

We will be setting up several rows of chairs across the back of the PAC for an audience. The times are as follows:

  • 9:00-10:00 (part of Block 1 & 2)
  • 11:00-11:45 (Block 3)
  • 12:45-2:00 (during lunch)

We would just ask that you:

  • enter and leave the PAC very quietly in case the competition is in mid-round when you arrive
  • please do NOT shout out the answers (tempting I know)

Hope to see you in the PAC!

Talent Show Auditions – Meeting

Could all those who auditioned for the talent show please come to Ms. Hansen’s room (D203) on Friday (30th) during first lunch (1:00) for a very important (but brief) meeting! If you can not make the meeting, please see Ms. Hansen or another member of the talent show committee to let us know.

Litter bin design competition

What would it take to make you put your rubbish in a bin and not on the ground? What could such a rubbish bin look like? Show us your ideas and maybe we’ll see your design around school. See details in attached poster:
