Dear All,
Just a reminder about the upcoming field test presentations for next week. Please come and support your colleagues who are applying to present for ETC 2016. One of the presenters originally scheduled for Wednesday has decided not to present this year. Therefore, we will just have two presentations on Monday and Friday.
Please let me know if you can come to the sessions. I need to know the numbers so I can prepare necessary materials.

Dear all,
The Accreditation Visitors had their last day in school yesterday. They wanted to extend thanks to everyone for such a warm welcome and for interesting and enriching conversations.
Many thanks to everyone who contributed to making this visit such a success.
How to help students understand what they read in textbooks
Remind students of the importance of looking at headings, diagrams, and illustrations and their captions.
Thanks to Skype in the Classroom, our grade 12 ESS students will meet Princess, one of the penguins rescued by the South African Foundation for the Conservancy of Coastal Birds (SANCCOB). We will also chat with a marine biologist involved in the conservation efforts in Cape Town and the impact of plastic pollution in the ocean as part of our study of pollution management. If you’d like to stop by and listen in, feel free to stop by. Our Skype call begins 2:15pm (room D204). If you’d like more info on virtual field trips like this for any grade level, feel free to contact me (luizmello@nanjing-school.com, room D204).
Thank you to all who have signed up to help with the Autumn Festival next week (Friday Oct 30th). I will email all students early next week with more details. You are welcome to wear a costume on the evening.
At this stage all grade 10 students should be engaged in a core C&S activity. If you are not please speak to your Advisory teacher about what you should do. Successfully completion of C&S is a requirement for getting the Grade 10 certificate and for being eligible for NIS Academic awards. If you have any other questions about this please come and see me.
Still some places available for helping with the SCISAC Soccer event at NIS. Thirty helpers are needed over Thursday, Friday and Saturday. In total over these 3 days there are 8 sessions and you will be required to help in 3 or 4 of these sessions. If you are available on all of these three days then please sign up on Veracross. There will be a meeting with Ms Weatherly at lunchtime on Tuesday 27th Oct in the Blue Gym to decide what sessions you will help in. The event will be held on:
