It is beginning to look a lot like Christmas!!!

The first ever RFG Christmas market will take place this weekend by the lake in Royal Family Gardens compound.  The event will take place this Saturday the 28th Nov from 3pm until 10pm and Sunday the 29th Nov 3pm until 7pm.  There will be presents to buy for family and friends, decorations to turn your home into a winter wonderland, live music, plenty of Christmas cheer and of course lots of scumdidilyumptious food and drinks.

Tickets are selling fast so make sure you get your tickets Thursday after school 3pm – 3.30pm, Friday before school 7.30am – 8am and Friday after school 3pm – 3.30pm.  Tickets are required for all people who live outside of the RFG community.  There will be tickets offered on resale at the gates on the day but this can not be guaranteed.

Silent Monks

This week’s Silent Monks rehearsal has been moved to Friday. The choreography is finished and now we need 15 students. If you can feel a beat and would like to perform in the NIC Benefit Concert, please come to the music room during the first half of lunch on Friday.

Kids Read and Random Acts of Reading

12:55 today, couches in the back of the library. We’re breaking into our teams and strategizing for the final competition (which is only 56 days away). If you’re interested in helping out, reading, or just want to hang out on the couch, feel free to join us!

A huge thanks to our Kids Read teams for taking a risk answering some tough trivia questions, putting up a great fight, and defeating the teacher team last week in the assembly!

If you are interested in attending the ETC, please apply through the school PD committee. We need to register by January. For more information, please check their website: www.earcos.org

Also, I received this email asking to share with you all.

The Klingenstein Center at Columbia University’s Teachers College is currently accepting applications for programs beginning in Summer and Fall 2016.

The Summer Institute for Early Career Teachers is a fully-funded two-week fellowship for teachers with two to five years of experience. The fellowship brings 75 teachers from around the world together to learn and collaborate on improving practice, creating practical curriculum and assessments, and growing as teacher-leaders. The application is due January 15, 2016.

The Full-Year Master’s Program and MA/MBA give students an opportunity to study leadership for independent and international schools. In a close-knit cohort of dedicated educators, students complete coursework in leadership, ethics, law, finance, marketing and cognitive development, conduct practical research in schools, and engage in a meaningful capstone project. The program has a priority deadline of January 15, 2016 and a final deadline of April 15, 2016.

The application for the 2017 Heads of Schools Program, also a fully-funded two-week fellowship, will open on May, 2016.

XuanwuLakersMaster

Congratulations to Xuanwu, winners of yesterday’s fiercely competitive basketball competition. All Houses finished on 2 wins each from the competition but Xuanwu’s superior points difference brought them out on top. Taiping took second place whilst current overall leaders Wutaishan could only manage 3rd place.

Xuanwu were also the winners of the PYP Just Dance Competition last week so its been a good few days for them; are they on their way back? Only time will tell!! These are the current scores:
