Hello MYP/DP’ers,

You will have your penultimate extended advisory session of the year tomorrow. You time will be spent completing an important survey for our school’s accreditation process, with some of the session left to take a peek at the exam schedule (if your advisor is willing to show you…), completing C+S/CAS sign-ups and/or reflections, or preparing for the upcoming House competitions!

Enjoy your time!

Further to Vicki’s request yesterday, please could you empty the two fridges in the PYP LGR and the two large fridges in the staff room of your food by Friday LUNCHTIME. We will be using them for the Pfrang Gala. They will be moved on Friday afternoon. Anything left at 2pm will be thrown away. Thanks for your collaboration.

G10/11 Service: Feel the urge to “Burst the Bubble”?

Have you heard of the phrase “Burst the Bubble”? Well, for many of us we do indeed live in a type of bubble not knowing much about what goes on in the outside community. But all is not lost as there are ways of getting outside the bubble or at least being able to see a little of what is happening outside. One way that I found useful was to photograph signs, pictures, graffiti etc. See document: StreetArtSigns This provided me with the chance to learn a little more about Chinese culture and language. Next year I would like to set up a small group of G10 and 11 students to do this regularly during the year and publicise in school bulletin and on screens. Please have a think about it! If you aren’t sure then you are welcome to take some snaps, translate and format into a doc like the one attached as a Service activity for this year.

MYP / DP Students – Having trouble fulfilling your Service requirements?

Are you an MYP student (or DP G11) and having the Service Blues? Not enough Service activities coming your way via the daily bulletin? Helping at ………  not your piece of cake? Had a enough of being a helper / follower for various causes? Don’t want to simply wander the pavement picking up trash! Well, it is your lucky day because there are other ways of doing Service. Have a look at the attached document to see various options of doing service – you are welcome to do any of these, for any activity or cause. In fact, it is a great idea to all these various kinds of Service during your MYP / DP programmes. Stop waiting for your Service opportunity to fall from the sky or come via the daily bulletin – take hold of your own Service experience and have a fresh look at how to do Service. TypesofService

Inter-house Theatresports…could be a decisive contest!!

Grade 6-8 students are NEEDED for the up-coming inter-house Theatersports competition. The house points are SO close this year – which means everything is still to play for!

There will be a meeting for G6-8 students to organize teams Thursday morning break in the Black Box. ANYONE who is keen on performing should attend – don’t let your house down!

MYP/DP Athletics Day correction

After a recount of the scores, there was a change in the 2nd and 3rd place teams. By an incredibly close, 3 points, Wutaishan has nicked the 2nd place spot from Taiping.  The new scores means that the race for the House Shield has got even closer with only 20 points separating 1st and 3rd place teams!!

Inter House Theatre Sports will run on Tuesday and Thursday next week. Speak to Ms Philip if you would like to take part

Here are the current scores:

A few changes are in the air…

  1. The date has been changed to May 17th, which gives you more time to prepare.
  2. The song has been changed to Yellow, by Coldplay.

The sheet music / tutorials / videos are located at studentlargestorage / music / interhouse. If you want any orchestral changes, please let me (Miss Keus) know and I’ll change the Finale file for you.

Wutaishan’s team has been organised and are starting rehearsals tomorrow… how about the other houses?
