Digital Magazines- Free Trial

flipsterHi Faculty and Staff-

The library is considering moving some of the print magazines to digital format using an App called Flipster.

The company has granted us a free one-month trial and I am looking for a few people to test-drive the system to see how well it behaves here in China.

Thanks for letting me know if you are interested in checking it out- feedback is much appreciated!

Book Week Bells!

Students and Teachers,

Nov.14-18 is book week. Since Bob Dylan is a Nobel Prize winning poet and song-writer he gets to be the default voice for the bells during this week. However, we’d love to punctuate his wonderful voice with some of yours.

Do you have a favorite book or poem? We’d love to capture your voice reading a favorite excerpt (30-60 seconds). I will organize these to be played for the bell (just once) during Book Week.

For example, you could read excerpts from Green Eggs and Ham, or Romeo and Juliet. You could also read a poem by Shel Silverstein, or Robert Frost. You could even sing a bit of Bob Dylan. If you’d like to contribute but are unsure of what to do, come by the library and we can suggest something to you. 🙂

You can record your own file and send it to me. Don’t say your name in the recording (it’s fun to guess who it is, anyway). Just read your piece, then at the end, tell us what you read, and who the author was. Please have the recordings to me by Wednesday, Nov. 9 (but the sooner, the better, so I can get started on editing!). OR, I can help with the recording.

Warm regards,

John

New Maker Space

The old PYP Design room has been transformed into a Maker Space! Please swing by and check it out. This is a space for you to use as you want. Of course, please tidy up before you go. If you have supplies that you would like to house in this room, add them to the shelves now. Sharing our resources is a great way for our school to be more environmentally responsible.

This space is available for use anytime Monday-Thursday.Reserve the room on the sign-up sheet by the door. On Fridays it is reserved for the Grade 4 students who will be working on their Creative New Undertakings, a NIS strategy team prototype. You are all most welcome to come by and see this project in action anytime.

We hope this room will be buzzing with creative energy each and every day.

SLT/SET Absences this week
