Giving Tree Pizza Party Count

Week 2 of the Giving Tree drive is coming to a close and of the 270 Cards available, over 220 have been claimed!! That means we have less than 50 left to sell and the contests for Homeroom/Advisory Pizza Parties are heating up. In the Primary, it’s anyone’s party for the taking as two homerooms, 5A Ms. Bartholomew and EYPreK/K1A Ms. Orteza are tied with 6 cards apiece, but four other Homerooms are just behind them, having bought 4 cards each. In the Secondary, the competition for giving is fierce, as Mr. Burton’s Gr8 Advisory has taken an early lead with 18 cards bought. Not to be counted out is Mr. McHugh’s Gr7 with 16 cards. In 3rd Place at the moment, but still within striking distance, is the ever-dangerous Ms. Chen’s Gr8 lurking and ready to make a late push. With less than 50 cards remaining and two pizza parties at play, don’t wait to get your Giving Tree Cards!

GOA AI + Home Learning and Designing for Student Voice PD

GOA is offering two courses in the next few weeks that may be of interest. As a GOA member school these courses are free of charge!

AI and Homework This asyncronous online course is happening December 4-5. Blurb: AI provides a powerful online tool for both students and teachers. How might it drive deeper learning? What are the ways it fosters student agency? In this short experience, participants will learn strategies for rethinking their approach to homework by using AI to inform student-led studying, skills practice, and self-assessment. Designed to move you from understanding to action in just a few hours, this two-day, fully asynchronous course provides highly curated resources, examples, and action steps to empower your students to use AI tools in their study and homework routines. GOA coaches will facilitate online spaces where participants will discuss ideas and share work in progress. You’ll leave with a student-friendly, AI-supported framework.

Designing for Student Voice This is a one-hour syncronous online workshop happening Friday Dec 1st at 8:00am Nanjing time. Blurb: Designing for student voice is not a checklist; it’s a process we revisit over time to ensure that all of our students experience belonging and have pathways for engagement in our schools. As part of our cultivating belonging series, in this one-hour workshop, participants are introduced to a variety of actions they can take to begin actively designing to include and leverage student voice. With a focus on strategies supporting representation, affirmation, and participation, participants will explore a range of ideas they can put into practice right away that invite and empower all learners. From how we greet students, to protocols for discussion, to how we plan diverse content playlists, each participant will walk away with a small next step for making a big impact.

Please feel free to register directly or contact Kasson for assistance. Thanks!
