Speak Up at NIS

Speak Up @ NIS                            

The next step in the student JEDI goal to address the use of hurtful and harmful language (microagressions) is to introduce all students to the Speak -Up strategies. The aim is achieve this by end of Week 24 (March 8).

Primary homeroom overview:

  • build on class agreements and connect to use of mean/unkind language
  • introduce basic strategies as appropriate
  • make a pocket booklet (copies of Speak-Up booklet provided if requested)
  • practice using strategies

Secondary Advisory overview:

  • introduce basic strategies
  • make a pocket booklet (copies provided)
  • practice using strategies

Looking for AI Innovators!

NIS has been given the opportunity to help beta test a new AI platform.  We are looking for a few people interested in participating in a beta test of this new platform.  If you are a teacher who likes to be on the cutting edge and would like to help us pilot a new AI Platform, please fill out this form.

Have you meet the volunteering requirement for Semester 2?

We have opportunities listed on SchoolsBuddy:

Scratch Coding – Mondays. If you are interested in working with primary school students and you want to develop creativity and math skills, then sign up to volunteer! This could be your CAS/GCD project if you are in Grade 11.

Swim Meet Timekeeper – Tuesday, Feb 20th 2.40 to approximately 4.30 pm. We need 6 volunteers to accurately and ethically record the times for our amazing swimmers.

ACAMIS Digital Art Challenge – Feb 26th

This challenge is open to students in grades 1 -12! Take part and showcase your skills.

If you would like to submit your work (maximum of one piece per category per student), please contact Ms Anna.

There are some questions to answer when you submitting your work:

  • What is the title of your piece?
  • Explain your creative process behind the work.
  • Please list the software/apps and any prompts used.

Dance Demo Class for Primary Students – Tuesday

Tuesday from 3.45 – 4.45 pm there will be a free trial dance class for students in PreK-G5 in the 3rd floor Dance studio.

Parents must supervise their children from 2.30 – 3.45 pm. Parents may stay and watch this free trial session.
