KnowBe4 Cybersecurity Training

Hello all,

This is a quick note to remind you about the KnowBe4 Cybersecurity Training that is beginning today.  You will get an email from do-not-reply@training.knowbe4.com at 1:45 pm today.

Cyber crime is a major problem. The bad guys are always coming up with new ways to trick unsuspecting users into clicking on dangerous links or opening malicious attachments in their email. By completing this training, you’ll be equipped with the skills you need to defend your organization against phishing and other social engineering attacks.

There are two things that need to be completed:

  1. Security Awareness Proficiency Assessment (SAPA)- 10 minutes
  2. 2024 KnowBe4 Security Awareness Training – 30 minutes

Please try to complete both of these over the next week.

For faculty, the Senior Education Team will give you time this afternoon, after the whole school meeting, to work on these important trainings.

Click the Start button on your training page to begin your training.

NOTE: To make sure that your progress is recorded, please close the window when you are done with your training. When you are ready to continue, you will be able to start your training from where you left off.

Thanks

Seeking Helpers

Attending the NIS Welcome BBQ?

The Pfrang Charity team are seeking helpers willing to donate a little of their time to help out at the Welcome BBQ (Sunday 15th September). The money raised on the day will go to a very special cause, helping students who can’t afford their final years of schooling.

At the BBQ we will provide a range of fun activities for kids supervised by our middle school student volunteers. In addition, we need some adults to help manage the student supervisors. Please PM me or pop by if you can help out (eating, drinking and enjoying the sunshine on the job is permitted!)

Teams Chat

Dear all Staff,

This is a friendly message to inform everyone that many departments in the school have been moving towards Teams as a way to organize and to communicate with each other.  To ensure that no one is unintentionally left out, we wanted to notify everyone of this move.  With this in mind, we would like to suggest that you either open Teams in your browser or the App on your computer everyday. In this way you will be a part of the amazing communications taking place in this fantastic application!

We understand that using a new application can, at first, seem daunting and possibly confusing, so we wanted to share some tips to make the experience better.

Here are the main best practices for managing notifications in Microsoft Teams:

  • Follow Relevant Chats and Channels: Only follow or pin chats and channels that are important, and mute or leave those that aren’t.
  • Set Your Status to Focus: Use “Busy” or “Do not disturb” to manage expectations and minimize interruptions.
  • Customize Notification Settings: Adjust notifications for specific activities (e.g., mentions, messages, meetings) to match your preferences.
  • Use Banner and Email Notifications Wisely: Enable only critical banner notifications and consider turning off email notifications if you mostly use Teams.

For more details on how to do these things, visit Microsoft’s support page.

If you would like to learn more about managing notifications on your MacBook this will help.

You can also come to the IT department on either floor of the HUB for support.

Pro Tip!

The best way to stay connected at school is to have Teams on all our devices. (not mandatory at all, but extremely helpful ).

Thanks for reading!

Primary – Assembly and PAC evacuation

Can all classes be seated in the PAC, ready for our assembly to begin at 8.10am.

Please send all performers and MCs to the PAC at 8am.

At the end of the assembly we will announce a PAC evacuation. The alarm will sound and all classes and parents should move quietly through the nearest exit door and line up on the track (in the same lines as the emergency evacuation) and wait until asked to return to class.  Teachers do not need to take attendance during this evacuation.

Library Services Paused Sept 2-3

Please note that Library services will be on paused for 2 days, September 2nd to 3rd, 2024 to allow time for our librarians to focus on organizing the library resources. This means that there are no library classes or library checkouts on these two days. The Hub space IS open and can still be used during breaks and for teachers to bring their classes.

Library services will resume again on Wednesday September 4th, 2024.

Many thanks for your support.
