Grade 10 Family Meeting with University Counsellor

University Counsellors will be holding family meetings with our Grade 10 students to support them with finalizing their IB DP/HSD subject choices from 13th February to 3rd March. Grade 10 Students are scheduled through Calendly with their assigned counsellor and please be mindful of your individual meeting time. Here is a gentle reminder of your subject choice.

Reasons why you might choose a subject

  • Interest and enjoyment of the subject
  • Possess an aptitude/ability for the subject
  • The types of assessments offered suits your learning style
  • Will help you meet your job/career and/or university/college course/program goals.

Most universities and employers expect young people to have studied a broad range of subjects, earned good grades, and been enthusiastic about what they have studied. There are exceptions in University program prerequisite/IB DP/HSD subject requirement. Information about pre-requisites and assumed knowledge for university courses will be discussed with your counsellor during the meeting.

We will look forward to seeing you.

Child Protection: Student Name Lists on Daily Bulletin

To the amazing Faculty and Staff of NIS!

I wanted to share some procedural steps regarding posting name lists of students to our Daily Bulletin.

As our Daily Bulletin is a public website, we will need to follow the following guidelines to be compliant with child protection protocols.

  • When name lists are shared on the Daily Bulletin, it is better if we don’t include full names.
  • If your list does have full names, password-protect the PDF ( See instructions below).
  • If a document is shared on Daily Bulletin ensure that it is locked with a password. (see the email I sent earlier for the password to use)
    • Please do NOT share this password on the Daily Bulletin.
    • Please DO remember this password.

We thank you for your assistance in this important matter.

Dear Colleagues

As per previous email and Staff Social Chat notification, please find a link below that seeks to collect your thoughts about JEDI (Justice, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) and its strengths and weakness in our community. All voices matter.

Panda picture books – available as powerpoints

Remember, you can project the Panda picture books on your screens for everyone to enjoy! I’ve also included the brackets so you can see which books will go up against one another. The first vote will take place on Friday, February 24, and everyone (EY-12 and teachers) is invited to vote. You don’t have to read all 16 books to vote!

Recruiting Weekend SAT Proctors for 2023-2024

Dear NIS teaching staffs,

I am looking for the SAT proctors in 2023-2024 academic year.

If you are interested in proctoring the weekend SAT, please contact me via school email.

Proctors’ qualification is same as pre-digital SAT except dealing with Test Day Toolkit and checking student’s testing app, which are both very user-friendly and are designed to minimize test day disruptions.

Just one simple reminder : Proctor should not be the test taker’s family member at NIS test center. I will help you get trained and share other necessary information when you need.

I will look forward to hearing from you.  Many thanks.
