EARCOS Inclusive Classrooms on April 8 & 9 at YIS

Yokohama International School will host an EARCOS Weekend Workshop: Inclusive Classrooms on April 8 & 9, 2023.

This workshop will focus on inquiring into how classroom teachers can develop strategies and understandings to truly support the diverse range of learners we have in our classes.

Whilst we often rely on Learning Support experts to support students in our classrooms, we are with them most of the day and Matt Barker, the facilitator, has years of expertise co-teaching, coaching and supporting teachers.

Matt will delve deeper into the following areas over the two days

  • Defining inclusion and making it relatable to my personal practice

  • Neurodiversity

  • What an inclusive classroom can physically look like

  • Teaching learners with diverse needs

The cost of this workshop is $100 USD for EARCOS members.

This covers the training, meals and refreshments. Please note that places are strictly limited.

The cost of travel, lodging, workshop, and per diem would come from our professional leave allowance.

Please contact Kasson if interested!

NIS IT Tech Tip: Creating Secure Passwords

Here are some useful tips from ChatGPT!

  1. Use a mix of upper and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters.
  2. Avoid using easily guessable information, such as your name or birthdate.
  3. Use a long password, ideally at least 12 characters.
  4. Avoid using the same password for multiple accounts.
  5. Use a passphrase made up of random words, for example, “correct horse battery staple”
    • You can change this using numbers letters, and symbols (Corr3ct Hor5e 8@ttery 5tapl3)
  6. Do not share your passwords with anyone and encourage your students to do the same.
  7. Use a password manager to generate and store your passwords securely.
  8. Change your password regularly and encourage your students to do the same.
  9. Educate your students about the importance of strong passwords and how to create them.
  10. Avoid using easily guessable sequences or patterns on the keyboard.
