TOK Exhibition 2024

TODAY IS THE DAY! Come along to the LGR and talk all things Knowledge! 8.40-10.40 am.

Please join us as we celebrate the TOK Exhibition this Friday, June 7th, in the LGR, blocks 1 and 2, where Grade 11 will share their learning and their rich perspectives, answering the question: How does TOK manifest in the world around us?

We are looking forward to seeing you there!

Speak Up

The best way to be ready to speak up is to prepare. The more we can identify stereotypes and explain why they are hurtful—or just inaccurate—the easier it will be to respond the next time we hear one. Remember, your response can have an impact.

Microaggressions How to Respond as an Actor

Listen with full attention: Listen to understand the misalignment and the impact

Take your time: Acknowledge Your Feelings (Internally)
Resist the urge to defend yourself or the statement. If you need time to process, share that: “I’m pretty overwhelmed right now and I don’t want to respond in a way that I’d regret… do you think that we can connect later?”

Practice Being Good-ish: View the feedback as a gift! (Thank you usually works
better that sorry) “Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I really appreciate
you telling me this.

Prioritize Impact: Acknowledge the impact, make commitments to change behaviour and change. “I understand the impact my actions had… I commit to…”

Sign up for supervising WEW

Dear Secondary teachers,

Please use this link to sign up for supervising Grade 10 students during WEW. If you teach G10, please sign up for at least one student. If you teach G10 and G12, please sign up for two. I will assign any left over students at the end of the day.

For each student you choose, you will send them a daily message checking in on their work placement. It can be in response to their daily reflection, following up any missed reflections, asking questions about successes, goals and struggles, giving advice etc. These messages will all be done on ManageBac. Specific details to follow.

I have asked many of you to be on the site visit teams. If I haven’t asked you yet, but you would like to be (you need to have at least a morning or an afternoon free of classes so we don’t create cover), please let me know!

Sara
