2023 NIS Art Sale!

Hi! Currently in the art centre there are many wonderful and beautiful artworks created by our graduated class of 2023, including our wonderful secondary student art pieces created throughout this year. And we want to share their amazing talents and artistic styles to you all!

Please come to the library foyer to observe and BUY, that’s right, all artworks that will be displayed are for sale, allowing for you all to keep that special work of art.

All the proceeds will be donated to Hopeful Hearts allowing for children and adults to receive care.

The initial timing of the sale will begin at lunch this Wednesday and finish this Friday 3:30 pm. There will be instructions on how to pay on the red columns outside near the entrance of the cafeteria, so please be on the lookout for that.

Amber from grade 11 will assist you during breaks, lunches and after schools, if you need it. Her email is amberowczarek@nanjing-school.com.

Let MYP Design students custom design products for your learning space

Next academic year G9 and G10 MYP design students will have the opportunity to design and build products for real clients (you and your students).

If you or your teaching spaces have any needs such as furniture, teaching materials, hands on learning aids, accessibility assistance, etc. please let me know in the survey link below. This is a great opportunity for students to meet with teachers or your students to put design thinking into practice through a few meetings to collect data, and then follow-up evaluations. Through this both groups build communication skills.

Some examples of possible products:

  • KG outdoor mud kitchen
  •  Indoor rainy day games
  • Reading nook
  • Book display
  • Standing desk
  • Small table for children

You know your space and needs best. We’d love to work with you and your students to custom-design a solution.

At this stage I’m collecting ideas, so if you put something down there is no obligation to go ahead with it.

Library closures

The library will be closed to students and parents every day after school due to our move. Students who are waiting for swimming can wait in the Centre lobby and secondary students will need to find another venue.

Since we will officially be moved upstairs after school on Wednesday, the library will need to be closed to students all day beginning Thursday. The library will NOT be available for break or lunch for students.

S2 Personal Excellence Awards Assembly

Dear Secondary Students

The Semester 2 Awards Assembly will take place on June 20th at 1:15pm in the PAC. Your parents are welcome to come to this assembly.

All of the Awards that will be presented are attached here for you to take a look at: Personal Excellence Awards_2023

Remember that the awards are decided according to the criteria. If you didn’t meet the criteria this semester, you can work towards it next semester. Asking teachers to change your grade is not the right way to get an award and teachers do not change grades based on student requests. Come and see me if you have any questions about the Personal Excellence Awards at NIS.
